At the Theater

Student Matinees

students+enter+walker+3.jpeg

Our Student Matinee program brings hundreds of middle school, high school, and homeschooled children from across Vermont and New England to the theater each year. These performances, held throughout the first two weeks in October, are available at an affordable rate of $10/person. Teachers receive an in-depth study guide made specifically for Weston’s production to help them enhance students’ learning. Teachers can begin making reservations in June.

Currently in development, our New Works program (launching in 2027) will feature performances with audience invites for schools.

In the Classroom

The Hero Project

Weston Theater Company is pleased to partner with Little Yellow House Studio on The Hero Project for a third year. In this school residency for ages K-6th grade, students invent and embody their favorite hero/heroine by portraying them in original scenes, songs, monologues, and/or dances. A Weston teaching artist provides students with a safe and joyful inventive process, guiding students in developing their singing, dancing, and acting skills while promoting listening, collaboration, and communication–essential skills that can translate to students’ academic and personal success. The focus is on exploring the creative process rather than focusing solely on a finished product.

The Hero Project is made possible in part by the Vermont Arts Council and Creative Connections Arts Fund of the Vermont Community Foundation.
