LEFT IN WESTON A Song by Ben Johnson

Click the play button above to listen to Ben Johnson performing Left in Weston, from the same childhood bedroom he first conceived of chasing his dreams within. Challenge: Try not to tear as up Ben sings about the quirks and beauties of our tiny little neck of the woods.

A Note on the Album

When Ben Johnson arrived to round out Buddy Holly's Crickets last summer, he knew he was going to drum up a storm - but little did he know that his time making art in the Green Mountains would impact him so much that it wouldn't only inspire a song, but the concept for his new album "From Roads to Strings and Back Again.” The songs explore what it means to chase your dreams, and each song is a journal entry documenting a stop or experience over his past couple years as a performer. Recorded in the same bedroom he dreamed of doing everything he was able to do in his time here, the song “Left in Weston” is a tribute to our quirky, beautiful little town. Some of the lyrics evoke what Ben felt in Weston, some call back to Buddy Holly and the Crickets, and others  to quote Ben himself, "the gifts and pieces that Weston left in me.”

More About Ben

Ben's dream started while playing drums and performing on a stage in Elementary School. After working hard to gain his Associate's in Arts while he was still in High School, Ben was able to graduate early from Rockford University with a BFA in Musical Theatre where he spent most of his time performing, but also spent an extensive time in the scene shop building sets and rigging/focusing lights. Since then, he has spent the last few years consistently traveling the country gaining a variety of experiences in different styles of performance such as Theme Parks, Children's Theatre, Regional Theatre, Amish Theatre, Actor Musician Shows, Movie Musicals, Original Productions, and even a few National Tours!

Outside of theatre, Ben continues to create surrounding himself in music. He loves to song-write, release his original music, and collaborate with his friends on other projects (listen to his music here). He loves playing instruments, spending time with friends and family, going to the movies, and meeting new people! He hopes to one day meet you and thanks you for reading!
